Glacier National Park

Upon awaking on August 12th at the Sears Motel in East Glacier, I was pleased to see the day promised to be mostly sunny with only a few cumulus clouds but no rain. Although I had hoped to reach Colville, Washington by evening, several construction zones within Glacier National Park combined with the number of tourists and the time zone change forced me to stop earlier than planned in Priest River, Idaho for the night.

After crossing Lake Koocanusa, I followed National Forest Roads 92 westward to Yaak River and continued along NF-508 to US-2 and the Kootenai River. This route passes through heavily forested areas with very few scenic vistas or other photo-worthy sights. That plus the fading light in the late afternoon dissuaded me from taking any further photos after leaving the vicinity of Lake Koocanusa.

The photos taken the previous day from Bozeman to East Glacier can be seen here.

In the following map the red arrows show my route. (Click on the map to enlarge.)
